Having grown up in several European countries, Peter Dammers (1969) founded Vondelpark Atelier, of which the Harbour Art Room (H.A.R.) is part. He studied mathematics and philosophy before entering the Amsterdam Gerrit Rietveld Academy on the basis of an experimental photo series. At this school's audio visual department he further developed his skills in painting and movie making, and also sound art and animation.

After art school Peter went on to study drama, literature, web design and computer programming. Next to drawing, painting and movie making he worked as a photographer, web designer and movie critic. Peter has been a teacher for over 20 years, at several (international) schools and art institutes in the country.

Currently Peter mainly teaches at Vondelpark Atelier. Many of his students enjoyed his classes to the extent that they enrolled in subsequent courses taught by Peter. Apart from working, Peter enjoys playing tennis and beach volleyball, music improvisation, collecting (vintage books, vinyl and general design) and being silly.
