linocut/woodcut

The lino(leum)cut and woodcut are the two best known representives of what is generally referred to as relief printing. In this type of printing the areas that should not show in the print are cut from the printing block, as in creating a simple stamp. Special chisels and gouges are used to produce the block.

In this workshop you will design and produce a lino/woodcut. Addressed are design, graphic conversion from the design to the cut and techniques for cutting and printing the block.

Teacher: Peter Dammers (lino) / Ece Abay (wood)
